Inspired by nature and stitched with passion.

The Beginnings

For as long as I can remember, sewing has been a lifelong passion of mine. What began as self-taught experiments in garment making in the early 1990s grew into a career spanning over three decades in the quilting and sewing industry. In 1996, I opened my first business, Quilting Trail, in a cozy 700-square-foot shop in North Pole, Alaska. What started as a small quilting service and fabric store eventually grew into Northern Threads in Fairbanks, a 4,600-square-foot destination offering fabric, yarn, sewing machines, and a thriving online shop that shipped worldwide. After 30 years in retail, I transitioned in 2026 to focus fully on my true passion—designing and creating.

Behind the Scenes In the Studio

Today, as the owner of Marie Noah LLC, I specialize in original wilderness appliqué quilt patterns, laser-cut kits, and unique embroidered felt pincushions. My designs are deeply inspired by the natural world around me and combine artistry with practicality to spark creativity in quilters of all levels. I also continue to offer professional longarm quilting services, a craft I’ve refined and loved for more than 30 years.

Handmades by Marie Noah

Beyond patterns and quilting, I find joy in making one-of-a-kind handbags, totes, and pouches. These handmade items allow me to blend functionality with beauty, creating pieces that are both useful and expressive. My hobbies—trail riding on my bike, hiking with my dog, paddle boarding, and capturing nature through macro photography—fuel the creativity that finds its way into each design.
